Despite previous reports to the contrary, it now appears that COAL CHAMBER have selected former SAIGON KICK guitarist Jason Bieler (NONPOINT, SW1TCHED) to produce their third full-length effort, which is tentatively scheduled to be released in the fall. Pre-production for the as-yet-untitled album is set to begin in Los Angeles on April 9th, with the band flying to Boca Raton, Florida shortly thereafter to begin recording the CD at Bieler's Elysian Studios. Although unconfirmed, there is a possibility that the album will be mixed in L.A. by Jay Baumgardner (i.e. PAPA ROACH, ALIEN ANT FARM, DROWNING POOL),who had previously worked with the group on their self-titled debut. Along with the previously announced new songs—“Three Steps”, “Drove” and “Beckon”COAL CHAMBER are said to be considering for inclusion on the forthcoming CD a reworked version of the track “Who Is God?”, which was originally co-written and recorded by vocalist Dez Fafara and guitarist Meegs for the English artist OVERSEER a few months back (a recording that was produced by MOTLEY CRUE bassist Nikki Sixx).

CRAZY TOWN and INCUBUS have been added to the line-up of bands performing during the entertainment portion of the inaugural ESPN Action Sports &amp Music Awards, held April 7 at Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. The two acts join the previously announced performers BLACK SABBATH, BEN HARPER and THE INNOCENT CRIMINALS, and DE LA SOUL featuring BUSTA RHYMES. Presenters include Rob Zombie, CYPRESS HILL's B-Real, and members of PENNYWISE.

WITHIN TEMPTATION, DISTURBED and SYMPHONY X are the latest acts to have signed on to perform at this year's Dynamo Open Air festival, which will take place May 24th – May 26th in Nijmegen, Holland.

The long-awaited first solo album from JANE'S ADDICTION / ex-RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist Dave Navarro will reportedly be released this summer through Capitol Records. Due to be issued under the band name SPREAD, the CD was originally scheduled to be released by Clean Slate Records, run by artist manager Andy Slater (FIONA APPLE, MACY GRAY, WALLFLOWERS),through Sony Music. However, with Slater having just been appointed president of Capitol Records, SPREAD will now be a Capitol release. Rumors continue to abound that MOTLEY CRUE have split up, with MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine adding fuel to the fire by insisting in a recent interview that the band was 'finished'. MEGADETH guitarist Al Pitrelli also contributed to the speculation by stating that Mick Mars was the first to leave the band, with Vince Neil following suit in an attempt to revive his solo career. As previously announced, the latter part is definitely true, as Neil has already lined up a 17-date tour, which kicks off April 18 in St. Louis and wraps up July 27 in Ionia, Mich. MOTLEY CRUE's label, Beyond Records, is also planning to re-release Neil's two solo albums as soon as it has secured the rights to do so.

UK rockers BUSH have parted ways with Trauma Records and are in talks with Atlantic, according to Billboard magazine. Trauma, which issued BUSH's first four albums, sued the band for breach of contract in 1999 for $40 million. The suit was settled out of court, and BUSH renegotiated its deal with Trauma before releasing its last album, The Science Of Things, in 1999. The latter CD debut at No. 11 on The Billboard 200 and sold 900,000 copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan, compared to 2.8 million units for 1996's Razorblade Suitcase. BUSH is currently in the studio recording a new album with producer Dave Sardy (MARILYN MANSON, HELMET, VISION OF DISORDER).
